Each year at Pottery World, our designers pick specific themed looks for the beautiful holiday displays that people from all over California and Nevada travel to see in person. If you would like to change or add to your holiday décor, a good place to start is by picking a theme, and working within the colors and style of that theme. For the next couple of weeks on the blog, we will be highlighting a specific holiday look from our store and describing how to get that look in your own home. The style of each look ranges from traditional to whimsical to rustic so everyone should be able to find one that works with their existing decorations and home décor. If you live near Sacramento, California or find yourself headed to Tahoe on Highway 80 this holiday season, make sure you stop in to see our displays. You will not be disappointed!
The first look that we will showcase this holiday season is what we call the “Lodge” look. Whether you are decorating your house in Tahoe for the holidays or just want your home to have that cozy, cabin feel, the Lodge holiday look is the perfect choice. The colors for this look involve copper, warm browns and gold with an accent of deep blue. Think rustic, but with a little sparkle. Our designers used curly willow branches to layer in the top of the Christmas tree off these branches we hung beaded strands and ornaments. This adds movement and an unexpected element to the tree. These strands were also used to adorn the antler chandelier and also on a carved deer head on the wall. Glitter pinecones, sprays of fur and other rustic florals are the finishing touch on this look. Throw a gorgeous faux fur throw on your sofa or in a favorite chair to complement this holiday décor. The stockings for this look are a whimsical way to incorporate that plush texture of fur, and we have adorable stuffed bears in two sizes to tuck into a display or give as a gift.
Lodge is warm and cozy and casually elegant. This look would work great in a room with dark wood furniture and leather upholstery, or with rustic, reclaimed wood pieces. The gold-toned ornaments you probably already have would work well in this look, as well as pinecones or other rustic décor. Cue the softly falling snow outside the window and the après-ski cup of cocoa and the cozy look of Lodge is complete!
