Meet Sandy France, Head Chef of the Pottery World Cafe

By December 18, 2015Cafe

Several years ago, Sandy France found herself laid off from a job in the corporate world, questioning her future. Realizing how passionate she was about entertaining and preparing food, her family encouraged her to do what she loved. Sandy started culinary school here in Sacramento soon after. She was placed in an externship at a local French restaurant that promptly hired her after witnessing her impressive culinary skills. She worked there for seven years, rising to the position of Pastry Chef, after which she joined the team here at the Pottery World Cafe. Sandy also has experience in catering and making custom cakes and other baked goods.

Food truly is Sandy’s passion and she takes every opportunity to share this passion with others. Incorporating locally sourced produce into her menu is important to Sandy, who enjoys experimenting with different tastes and flavor combinations to create inventive and exciting dishes. This passion and creativity is showcased in the seasonal High Tea menu offerings that Sandy makes each month. Our customers rave about our frequently sold out High Tea and say that it rivals any they have had elsewhere. It’s clearly Sandy’s incredible food that makes the difference!

Currently, Sandy’s favorite food to make for the cafe is the roasted pumpkin soup with roasted pumpkin seeds, which happens to be a customer favorite too. She also loves creating the delectable tarts and pastries that fill the dessert case. When Sandy isn’t in the kitchen—either at the Pottery World Cafe or at home making food for her family and friends—she is tending her garden or playing with her grandchildren.
