Salads Made Easy

Spring is here and summer is on the way. This is the time of year when I start craving salad. I feel quite lucky to have the privilege of working in a place where they serve amazing salads; I will confess that I indulge frequently — my favorite being the Spinach with Chicken. The thing about salads — especially the salads made here at the Pottery World Cafe — is that when they are made right, they feel like an indulgence, but they are really very healthy.

The one thing I do not like about salads is making them. It is not so much the prep work of chopping and assembling but more so the decision of what to put in my salad. There are so many delicious options, it is hard to choose! That is why I came up with the “Salad Creator List”. This is a list of my favorite salad ingredients that I have printed out and posted to my fridge — I also keep a copy of this list on my phone so when I find myself at the grocery store, I don’t have to think about what to buy, I can just look at my list — so when a salad craving hits, I am ready to go! It is very easy to follow; I pick one base item, two staple items, and three accent items. Once I have the base, staples and accents figured out, I add any optional items and top it off with a dressing. This list has worked so well for me that I wanted to share it. You will probably want to customize it to fit your own taste, but this should get you started.
