Job Description:
The Cashier / Outside Sales Associate provides exceptional customer service while supporting daily sales operations in a fast-paced, seasonal garden center environment. This role is responsible for accurately processing transactions, assisting customers with product selection, and maintaining a strong working knowledge of products. Schedule & Compensation:
• Hourly, non-exempt position (no tips, bonuses, or commissions)
• Part-Time: 20–30 hours per week; typical shifts are 4 hours
• Full-Time: 32–40 hours per week; typical shifts are 8 hours
• Schedules are posted weekly and may vary based on business needs
• Weekend availability is required
• All employees are required to work two designated days per year

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, professional service
• Process cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently
• Assist customers with product selection and answer questions
• Develop and maintain strong product knowledge over time
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls appropriately
• Receive and verify incoming merchandise and shipments
• Update inventory and ensure merchandise is properly labeled and organized
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Assist with loading customer purchases as needed
• Support other departments and perform additional tasks as assigned
• Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Qualifications:
Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment; strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; basic math and computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand and walk for the majority of the shift. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Regular use of hands, reaching, bending, and lifting required.
Work Environment:
Outdoor garden center environment with daily exposure to heat and cold. Noise level is low to moderate. Work performed around carts and forklifts; forklift operation permitted for certified employees only.
